Hard Candy's Glamoflauge Concealer | Review - Beauty With Lily

Hard Candy's Glamoflauge Concealer | Review

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

So about two weeks ago I posted a Beauty Haul featuring some high-end and drugstore products. A few things were repurchases and some weren't, after trying some of these out for 2 weeks, I figured it was time for a review.

Before we get started, I have extremely bad dark under eye circles. I also have freckles, a few scars from previous breakouts, and I don't suffer from acne, just your usual hormonal breakouts. So on we go!

Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer by Hard Candy

Price: $6.00
Size: Concealer 0.71 oz, Pencil 0.023 oz
Color: Light
Shade Selection: 5 Shades

Company Claims | A heavy duty, highly pigmented, blendable concealer that provides the ultimate coverage.  Create a flawless surface by covering birth marks, freckles, dark circles and even tattoos! -- Hard Candy Website

Overall Application | I apply this in a patting motion in the areas I want and need extra coverage. It is very easy to apply and goes on smoothly.

Overall Color | There are 5 different shades to choose from--Ultra Light, Light, Medium Light, Medium, and Tan. I like my under eye concealers a little bit lighter than my actual skin, to give some brightness and highlight at the same time, making this shade just right for me. I think for a drugstore product the shade selection is just fine, seeing as many other drugstore concealers only come in 3 shades.

Overall Formula | It blends really well and it's also very creamy. The teeniest, tiniest amount of concealer goes a LONG way! You don't need much product at all, which is a great.

Overall Packaging | I don't see anything wrong with the packaging at all, I like that not a lot of product squeezes out at one time, since you only need a small amount.

Overall Scent | This concealer does have a certain smell to it, not too sure how to describe it. It's not super strong, but it's there.

Overall Wear | Under my eyes it creases really bad after about 4 hours of wear. On my other problem areas such as my chin and the redness around my nose, aren't a problem at all. It wears for long-periods of time and it does not cake up.

Final Thoughts
After 2 weeks of trying this product out I'm 50/50 on it. The coverage it provides is AMAZING, however I really don't like that it creased under my eyes. I know most concealers crease, but I honestly have never had one crease as bad as this one does. I love that it hides my dark under eye circles really well, but I do not like how it wears on me. Around my nose and my chin it does an amazing job at hiding my redness and my scars. I will definitely continue to use this product for problem areas, breakouts, and redness; but I will not continue to use it to hide my panda eyes.
I don't think this concealer will be the best on someone with dry skin. I have oily skin find this product to be a bit drying on me.

Would I Repurchase?
Like I mentioned earlier, a little bit of product goes a long way, so I don't think I will be running out of this any time soon. When I do run out--in like 5 years--I more than likely will repurchase because I do like the coverage it provides every where else.

Now I will be honest and say that I am not too fond of the pencil included, I really haven't found much use for it, and find that I have not reached for it since I purchased these.
Also, I don't have any tattoos, so I can't make any claims on that part, I have however, heard and read many reviews that his concealer is a dupe for the Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer. Unfortunately I haven't tried it yet, but when I do I will let you guys know for sure!!

So there you have it! I hope you guys found this post helpful and enjoyed it!

Have you tried this concealer? What are your thoughts on it?

Until next time loves!!

  1. I love your nail polish rack, using a spice rack is so clever! I'm now on the search for an acrylic spice rack like that, but I've only seen wooden ones or real extra fancy ones :/
    Great review Lily! :) x

  4. i share the same opinion with almost everything you said here liliana. been using this concealer for i think around 5 months. at first the consistency was really nice. there are some problems like the creasing but i can mend it using a translucent powder. but after a few months the consistency changed and got worse. it became oilier and harder to work with so I had to get a new concealer. actually scouted for it since i have severe panda eyes too ^^ you might want to check erase paste from benefit / nars radiant creamy concealer. those two were my fave. i got the nars one in the end, it doesnt have full coverage but it have illuminating properties :) - just noticed my reply is too long sorry haha!

    1. Oh no what a bummer! Maybe they should make it in smaller packaging to save product.

Ooooh, those panda eyes are just the worst! I think Erase Paste will be one of my next purchases. Thanks for the recommendations Shayne.

  5. I've been working with this concealer for the past month or two as well. I felt exactly like you, I loved the coverage but it creased like crazy! A few weeks ago I bought the ELF HD powder and started playing around with setting my concealer with it. I'm happy to say that it seriously does the trick!! I almost couldn't believe it because it seems like every concealer I tried creased on me and I had all but given up. For a week or so I even used the powder only every other day to test it out, and sure enough on the days I didn't use it, my concealer creased, and was fine on the days I did use it. Not sure if it'll work like that for everyone, but I definitely think it's worth checking out. :)
Great review, you really described the product very well! :)
Also, my husband was nice enough to let me test it out on his tattoo (he has his wedding ring tattooed on), and it did cover, but looked a little cakey. He's such a good sport when it comes to my obsession! :)

    1. I may have to just try that powder! Hopefully it'll work for me, because I really love the coverage it gives, but man the creasing is bad. I almost wish I would've snapped a picture of it. I couldn't believe I had walked around looking like that. LOL!

Your husband's so sweet! I completely forgot to test it out on my husband until after I had published this. :)

  6. Well Crap, I have been eyeing this concealer for a while and wanted to try it so bad was afraid I would waste me money. I have dry skin, and I crease a lot under my eyes :/. I am glad however it helps with other areas so i will probably give it a try for the redness and scar cover up. Thank you so much I needed to hear this about this product. Can't wait for the how to. I like brownies :)

  9. Ooops, this post made me remember that this was on my 'to-buy' list ._. I totally forgot about this concealer!

I doubt I'd be using it for my undereye area, so creasing won't be an issue for me! Have you tried using an eyeshadow primer underneath the concealer?

  11. Awesome review, Lily! I also have dark circles under my eyes and on the very bad days I need to slap on a corrector and concealer. I also don't like it when concealers crease - do you set yours with a powder? A drying concealer is awful, my undereye area is quite dry and I have found I need a concealer like the MAC Mineralize Concealer or the Revlon Age Defying Concealer - they work best for me (I have combo skin on the rest of my face).

I can't believe you guys had a 50% Off Sale on The Balm products - I'm so jealous! I wish The Balm would come to SA! Did you get anything from the sale?

Have a wonderful day, Lily! xxx

  12. Thank you Luzanne! Drying concealers are the worst! I have an oly t-zone and the rest of my skin is pretty normal, and this still felt drying even with my oily skin. Yes, I setting powders. :)

Unfortunately I was not one of the lucky ones to take advantage of the sale. It was only a 1 hour flash sale, and they experienced high traffic on their website the entire time. So I kept getting an error page. They extended the sale for an extra hour, but I still couldn't even get in the website. Such a bummer! I really wanted a few blushes and my mom was going to purchase a couple of palettes.

    Thanks for stopping by! xoxoxox

  15. Thank you for this review. Will not buy it for sure because creasing under my eyes is the worst that can happen! Rather show dark circles then creasing! LOL. Nice review!

  16. I bought this a few weeks ago! For my normal to dry skin, it can look cakey on certain areas, but blending and layering helps. However, I was able to wear it on my under eyes successfully; the only problem I experienced was fading!
Thanks for the post, I am loving your blog :)
