I featured this trusty little palette in my September Favorites blog post and wanted to do a full review and post some swatches up for you guys.
I reach for this palette almost on a daily basis, it has some great transition shades as well as defining shades.
It’s really hard and rare, to find a good quality palette with ALL matte shades. I actually purchased this one by accident, theBalm makes another palette called Meet Matt(e) Nude, which has all matte, nude shades, I was actually going to purchase that one and accidently bought this one. I’m glad I did, I have fallen in love with it.
Let’s jump into the review and swatches!
Meet Matt(e) Palette
Prize: $34.50 — Can be found at Nordstrom
Size: 9 Matte Shadows
Matt Smith – cream, skin tone
Matt Gallagher – light brown
Matt Ramirez – dark brown
Matt McDonald – hunter green
Matt Horowitz – grayish blue
Matt Chung – light pink
Matt Batali – dark plum
Matt Schilling – blue green
Matt Patel – gray
Overall Application | These eyeshadows feel amazing, they are so creamy and smooth. There is absolutely no fallout or flaking from these shadows, and they glide on very well to the eye lids.
Overall Color | The pigmentation is pretty much a hit for all of the colors. Matt Smith is a color that doesn’t really “show up” on the skin, but it’s not due to pigmentation or formula, it’s just the color.
Overall Packaging | I adore all of theBalm’s packaging, so cute and whimsical. I like that all of the matte shades have a “Matt” name. This palette is small enough to take with while traveling, yet it still has a decent size mirror.
Overall Wear | I do usually wear a primer underneath as I have oily eye lids, therefore the shadows last a long amount of time without creasing or wearing off.
Final Thoughts
I couldn’t be happier with my accidental purchase. I love a good matte eyeshadow, and the fact that all of these are matte makes it that much better. I highly recommend this palette if you are on the hunt for a matte palette. Like I mentioned earlier, it’s rather hard and rare you come across an all matte palette.
I reach for this palette for my go-to look, which I will have a post on in the near future.
I honestly haven nothing bad to say about this palette.
I plan to continue my Color Combo series with this palette as soon as I have concluded the Nude’tude Color Combo series. Which you can find here and here.
I hope you have found this post helpful! Please do let me know if you have any requests on some eye looks using either palette.
Do you have this palette?
What are your favorite matte eyeshadows?
Until next time beauties!
xoxo, Lily
