I’ve mentioned a few times that we recently moved and when we did I thought it would be a good idea to get rid of A LOT of our old home decor. When I began purchasing new things for our new place, I decided to go for a more minimal, effortless style on a budget. I wanted pieces that made a statement, but were still classic. So with that said, I learned a few things about updated a home on a budget — because let’s be honest, we can all tend to get a little tired/bored of our home decor. If that’s you, then keep on reading!
Inexpensive Ways To Update Your Home
Add Temporary Wallpaper
You read that right…wallpaper is back! Add some peel and stick wallpaper to spruce up a room. It can be easily applied and removed, no hassles. Wallpaper can really make a statement, especially if you add it as a focal point on one wall.
Update Your Curtains
Switch out your curtains every so often. Not only can they really made a difference, you can also change them out with seasons. Go for something light in color during the Spring for a more bright and airy feel. And perhaps something darker in the Fall, to help keep the space warmer.
Add Some Throw Pillows
One of the easiest ways to really add some fun to a room is by adding in fun throw pillows. One of my moms little tricks is to only buy throw pillow covers and re-use the same pillows (until they get too worn out.) This saves her so much storage space and it’s also so much cheaper!
Switch Out Your Lampshades
I think one of the things most people don’t think about are lampshades. No need to purchase an entire lamp (they can be pricey) just switch out the lampshade. So much easier!
Change Up Your Wall Art
Another one of my moms little tricks is to switch out wall art from room to room. She tends to get bored easily and she says that by changing wall decor around helps her not get so tired/bored of the same stuff. Or you can hit sales and purchase wall art little by little.
Add Some Faux Flowers/Plants
Plants and flowers can also make a big difference. Sometimes they can be a bit pricey, so wait for a sale. Or better yet, get creative and make your own flower arrangements — something my mom does a lot too, y’all she’s super creative!
Add In A Rug
An area rug can really cozy up a space and make a pretty big statement as well. I know our space looks so empty without our area rug.
